Helping the body of Christ to grow Spiritually
In 1620 The Pilgrim Fathers saw little chance of England becoming a country in which they wished to live. They viewed it as un-Godly and moving from a bad to worse state. The Pilgrim Fathers believed that a new start in the New World was their only chance. Their journey was to be journey of discovery, a journey exploring new lands and new frontiers.
Biblical Doctrine being the foundation of all true Christian experience. Without a sound doctrinal foundation the Christian experience, is like a builder attempting to build a house without a good foundation. Doctrinal truth is not only the foundation but also the superstructure of all true Christian experience
The Journey of Life. Who am I ?
The keynote of Psalms 121 is “Trust” in the Lord on life’s journey.
“ I looked to the hills, not to idols in high places, but to Him who not only created them, but created the heavens also”.
The Jewish Pilgrims as they journeyed towards Jerusalem could see the city in the distance and were encouraged to go on. Their journey was to worship the true God, their rejoicing was the anticipation of Jerusalem itself.
On the Pilgrim ‘s Christian journey we have to trust that God will take us through every trial of life. Psalm 119 reminds us with the words “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”. We have the Word which lights the Pilgrim way, not only in trusting God, but also trusting in His Word to sustain us
Where am I going on this Journey of Life ?
Sojourners in an alien society,
The the Pilgrim Christian is “God’s elect stranger in the world.”
(1 Pet:1 v3-4)
We are reminded that we are sojourners in an alien society, the attitude of the Pilgrim Christian, Is that he is a stranger and a pilgrim, he is an alien, in this earthly journey. His life is alien to the life of its inhabitants. He is not of this world, but has to pass through it. Heb:12 v22 reminds us “But ye are come unto Mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem and to an innumerable company of angels.” Abraham was a stranger and a pilgrim in a foreign land, yet he looked towards his heavenly home.
